For our third outing on Mr. Eel's random pairing series, we were put with Argentinian experimentalist, El Zombie Espacial, not someone whose work we had previously been acquainted with, but exploring strange new musical worlds is very much our own five year mission. What arrived in our inbox was a great selection of electronic stems with some excellent percussion tracks, kind of an avant garde jazz feel to them, which was the path we'd primarily been thinking along. Then, within in a couople of weeks of his sending them, my mother died, thus things took an altogether darker turn, and we created this requiem from them instead. Really appreciate the exceptional latitude he gave us for this piece of electro-experimental catharsis. It may be a sombre note to end an album on, but it would seem almost disrespectful for anything to follow it. World keeps turning, I know. Though it really felt like it didn't for a while back there...
