about

A foley forest of wind and wheels.

Some random and some directed field recordings that capture the sound of everyday life around me, sea waves to bustling city streets. These recordings create a sort of surrealistic audio autobiographical film, one that captures a manipulated moment in time.

For the never-well known recordist, field recording can act as a diary of sounds, a personal collection of sonic memories. The sounds of a particular place or event can be captured and used later to evoke a certain emotion or feeling. When manipulated in an artistic context, field recordings can take on a life of their own, forming the basis of a unique soundscape work, echoing an artistic dream.

This piece comes out of a series of live performances around abandoned places in Thessaloniki, Greece in early 2023. Initial recordings were played through portable devices and recorded again with new found and crafted sounds all over.
